Visit the Automation Unlimited for Jira. Click the “Try it free” or "Buy it now" button to begin the installation. Follow the prompts to complete the installation. Click the "Configure" button. The app is opened.
To build automation you'll need to configure three parts:
- Name: Name of your automation rule and the project you'd like to work with.
- Condition: What conditions will trigger your automation.
- Action: The actions you'd like Jira to do.
Let's analyze each of the parts in the following steps.
Click "New Automation" and enter the name of your future trigger. Then select the project where the automation conditions will be applied. Click "Continue" to save the added data.
Triggers start the execution of new automation.
All these triggers have different purposes but the same logic for setting all the parameters. Let's look at the settings using the example of the Issue Assigned trigger. Click “Select” under the “Issue Assigned” trigger. Confirm your choice by clicking the "Continue" button.
Every trigger includes two components - condition and action. Components can either restrict execution by testing a condition, perform an action, or control the flow by branching on related issues.
Click "Select" under any condition. You'll see the list of fields. Select or enter values. For example, you select the "Field to Monitor for Changes" condition. Look at the fields:
After selecting or entering all parameters, click the “Continue” or "Add+" button. The "Add+" button is necessary if you want to add one more condition.
For example, select the "Create Subtask" action. See the list of fields if it's necessary. Enter or select values.
You may add another one action after clicking the "Add+" button too.
Make sure that you select trigger, condition, and action. Make sure that you enter or select all necessary information in fields and dropdown lists.
Click the "Automation is ready - now turn it on" button to enable the automation. Congratulations, your new automation is ready!
